This mp3 audio download program focuses on various elements specific to operating a special needs practice. To be successful in serving the disability community, attorneys need to understand the issues facing families with special needs and be intimately aware of services available.
The faculty provides an overview of special needs estate planning and how it differs from elder law and general estate planning. Speakers also discuss how changes in public benefit laws and reductions in public service programs are shifting the primary objective of planning away from the preservation of public benefits in favor of the trust serving as a private social service system that provides advocacy.
Information is also provided on how to coordinate professional advisors in a way that ensures lifelong advocacy while still empowering family and friends.
