Description

The past year has seen a number of significant cases refining the first sale doctrine in copyright law, in a wide variety of industries. These cases provide guidance regarding when copyrighted material can be "resold" - - whether in online auctions, international distribution chains, or the local mom and pop used goods store.

While some questions have been answered, a few remain -- particularly in light of the Supreme Court's 4-4 split in the case of Costco v. Omega. Copyright and industry experts will discuss recent case developments, analyze their effects on various content industries, and debate the future of the first sale doctrine.
