Information security law is evolving faster than other areas of the law because information technologies themselves continue to evolve at a rapid pace. Attendees to this session will appreciate the keen insight of industry experts who are members of the American Bar Association's Information Security Committee (ISC). Attendees of this panel will receive up-to-the-minute analysis of key legal issues that impact information security. The ISC has begun a working group dedicated to helping legislators with policy issues and developing data security legislation.
The panel will discuss pending data security bills in Congress, at the state level and internationally, and provide insight as to where regulators are headed in terms of data security and privacy, and enforcement. Since 2010 there has been increased litigation in the data security realm, including lawsuits involving payment card data security breaches, consumer data breaches and online banking security breaches.
Our expert panel will discuss these cases, their holdings, and the direction and guidance they provide concerning key issues like reasonable security and unauthorized access. Cloud computing and social networking continue to radically alter the business landscape. Both implicate significant information security legal issues. The panel will provide the latest thinking concerning the data security and privacy legal liability issues, and solutions, around these key technologies.
