With the complexities of the internal revenue code, it is ever important that a lawyer have familiarity with the code and the information contained on various tax return forms, including individual, corporate, and partnership.
This video download program will explore the individual and joint personal federal income tax returns (Form 1040), partnership returns, including LLCs (Form 1065) and corporate returns (Forms 1120 and 1120S). It will also discuss how the information contained on those returns may be used or are relevant in matrimonial cases, the creation of and comparison with statements of net worth, and known or unknown sources of income.
Our expert panelist will also discuss flow-through entities (S-Corps, Partnerships, LLCs), how and where certain items of income expense flow through from the company returns to the partners or shareholders individual returns, and review the difference between allocated income, expense, and distributions (cash income versus paper/phantom income).
