About Military Service and the Law

Advocating on behalf of veterans can make an incredible difference in the lives of veterans and the lawyers who represent them. Our veterans need to be able to access legal assistance from a professional who understands both the intricacies of the veteran compensation and appeals system as well as the unique culture and values of the military. This program shares how those within the legal profession can work together and be advocates for the very men and women who are willing to sacrifice everything to safeguard our freedoms.

Military Service and the Law is a 3-DVD set and a 232-page book that provides 6.5 hours of CLE credit in the government practice area, and provides content that meets the attorney accreditation requirements for lawyers who wish to represent veterans before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This program is designed to provide expert guidance to attorneys and others who wish to assist veterans with such issues as divorce and custody matters, veterans' benefits, employment and reemployment rights. In addition it provides an overview of each branch of the armed forces and its unique legal system, a resource guide and more.

This program, while produced as a CLE program, is also a perfect reference for veterans' service organizations, and charitable organizations that are charged with meeting the increasing demand for assistance from veterans and active duty service members attempting to navigate a complex and confusing system of benefits and rights.
