This issue of Family Advocate focuses on sample letters used by attorneys in family law cases to help guide and educate clients and to inform the attorneys. These letters may be used as guidelines. Letters have been organized into several groups. Group one letters relate to early contacts between the attorney and the client (e.g., retainer agreement; third-party guarantee of fees; how to handle e-mails between the attorney and the client, etc.). Other letters educate the client about the custody process, communication with the other side, and the divorce process. Still another group of letters focus on discovery procedures and the trial process.
These letters should serve as guidelines only and should be tailored to meet specific needs of your clients and your practice. Use these letters as suggestions to provide ideas for the kinds of letters that may be helpful to your practice.
