As mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) posted on its website the new Voluntary Self-Referral Disclosure Protocol on September 23, 2010. The new protocol specifically addresses physician self-referral (or Stark) issues, adhering to the statutory language mandating its creation. Now that the protocol exists, providers must decide whether the protocol offers a new solution to the Stark disclosure dilemma or whether it makes the decision to self-report even more difficult.

This mp3 audio download program features speakers both from the industry side of the question and from CMS to help explore the benefits and/or the limitations presented by the new protocol.
