Description

Please join our all-star panel to discuss an emerging trend in the legal professio--sending elements of the representation outside of the traditional law firm. The legal outsourcing provider (LPO) industry only took off in the last 7-8 years, but is expected to continue to grow at a fast pace. We will explore the still largely undiscovered world of LPOs, contract attorneys, professional document reviewers, and e-discovery experts. The use of these individuals and companies in the course of representation can be very cost effective, but also raises issues about the industry's intersection with the Model Rules of Professional Conduct with regard to the duty to supervise, confidentiality, competence, conflicts, and billing. Our panel includes four very different perspectives: an in-house attorney, a partner in a large law firm, an ethicist, and an executive in the outsourcing industry who previously founded one of the pioneer legal-process outsourcing companies. Join us to get up to speed on this hot topic and the risks and benefits it presents.
