This program lays down the fundamental building blocks for practicing either crop and or livestock insurance law. The program will discuss provisions in the Federal Crop Insurance Act, Agriculture Risk Protection Act, and the relevant regulations. Faculty will give an overview of the administrative framework of our federal crop insurance system via the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Risk Management Agency and Federal Crop Insurance Corporation.
Additional introductory crop insurance topics include: overview of Multiple Peril Crop Insurance, types of crop insurance protection including Catastrophic Risk Protection and Buy-up coverage and types of crop insurance coverage.
Furthermore, attendees learn how to evaluate a crop insurance case and counsel a farmer or defend an insurance company when there is denial of a claim including mediation, arbitration, judicial review of an arbitration award, administrative review process including appeals, and potential litigation after arbitration at either state or federal level. Finally, the webinar gives an overview of livestock insurance including various equine insurance policies available to horse owners including Standard Equine Mortality Insurance.
