Natural gas is now viewed by many as the "fuel of the future." Over the past several years, new drilling techniques have unlocked vast domestic sources of natural gas trapped in geologic formations. Discovery of this shale gas is having profound impacts on the U.S. energy supply picture, as well as on landowners and communities in drilling areas, creating practice opportunities for lawyers across the country. This program will provide a broad overview of the expanded natural gas resource brought by the new shale gas discoveries and of the legal and policy issues that arise from these discoveries.
