There is an increasing trend in wage and hour litigation: unpaid interns are suing employers for pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Must an employer pay an intern for his/her work? The answer to this question lies in an analysis of the standards set forth under the FLSA establishing the minimum wages for work performed. Employers need to make certain that an unpaid internship program complies with all the DOL criteria and meets at least the minimum wage requirements under the FLSA and applicable state laws.

This program will address these widespread issues, including employment of interns in various settings, such as for-profit companies, public sector and unionized workplaces, the applicable FLSA implications, and best practices.
