The EPA's informational sources on the Internet for natural resource damage issues are excellent. See: http://epa.gov/superfund/programs/nrd/primer.htm. Helpful available information includes: a natural resource primer; identification of federal and state trustees; legal authorities; and even answers to frequently asked questions.

The Internet site also includes risk assessment guidance for ecological concerns, which should be of significant interest to parties potentially conducting assessments. See: http://epa.gov/superfund/programs/risk/tooleco.htm.

Another source of risk assessment guidance is the EPA's ECO Update — an intermittent bulletin published by the agency addressing ecological risk assessment considerations.
