Welcome to the Business of Diversity and Inclusion! Our newsletter has a new name to reflect the changed name of the Committee. We want you to be part of us! Network at our receptions. Also drop by and say hello to our new subcommittee chairs and vice chairs; more information follows in the newsletter. In particular, we have a great program on Saturday morning "Gay Marriage and the Repeal of DOMA: What Every Business Lawyer Needs to Know" Anthony Marks, Sarita Nair, Rob Neis and Judge Olson will discuss the business law implications of the DOMA decision. I look forward to seeing you at the meetings and events.

  Leadership Outreach Diversity Program
 

The Business Law Section has extended the application deadline for Leadership Diversity Outreach programs! Apply by April 18, 2014 to participate in this vibrant initiative.

The Leadership Diversity Outreach Programs provide participants free Business Law Section meeting attendance, practice-specific career development, and mentorship opportunities that spring board participants into Section leadership positions. The four programs within this initiative include:

  • Fellows: ABA Young Lawyers Division members who practice business law and hope to expand their ABA participation to the Business Law Section.
  • Ambassadors: Lawyers of color who practice business law and belong to an organization or association for lawyers of color.
  • Envoys: LGBT lawyers who practice business law and are active in a bar organization for LGBT lawyers.
  • Diplomats: Lawyers with disabilities who practice business law and participate in an organization for lawyers with disabilities.

In its seventh year, the Diversity Clerkship Program places nine outstanding diverse law students with business court judges across the country to participate in an eight-week program. Participants for the 2014 program are:
