New York City's "Green Lease":   Model Energy Aligned Lease Language

Last summer New York City announced that the first lease incorporating green lease language addressing the split incentive developed by the Mayor's Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability had been signed.

Steve Teitelbaum -- author of BOMA's Commercial Lease Guide to Sustainable and Energy Efficient Leasing for High-Performance Buildings, and a participant in the NRDC task force that provided some of the foundation for NYC's efforts -- will review the model language and lead a discussion of the issues.

More information is available on the Emerging Issues and Specialty Leases Committee web site, including copies of (1) PlaNYC: A Model Energy Aligned Lease Provision, and (2) PlaNYC Energy Aligned Lease PowerPoint:

Be sure to join us if you want to know what is going on in one of the hottest areas in green leasing.  It should be a lively discussion.
