About the Committee

The UN & International Institutions Coordinating Committee actively develops and promotes the cooperative relationship between the UN, its specialized agencies, and other intergovernmental organizations, on the one hand, and the ABA and the Section of International Law. It identifies transnational public and private law issues of interest to the ABA, and coordinates the formulation of ABA positions. It educates the Section, ABA leadership, foreign bar associations, government representatives and others about activities at the UN and other bodies.

Making a Difference Through Policy

Do you have an idea for a policy position on UN and other international legal matters that the ABA Section of International Law should adopt to promote the administration of justice, liberty, and rule of law? Members are encouraged to suggest new policy areas for further research and consideration. Let the Co-Chairs know if you have an idea or would like to work on policy issues.

Promoting Diversity and Inclusiveness

A key goal of our committee for 2016-2017 is to promote diversity within our own committee membership. Please let the Co-Chairs know if you have ideas on how to mobilize further action to reach a diverse range of lawyers and law students.
