Message From The Chair

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you to all who attended and participated in our committee’s annual conference on October 19 and 20 in Washington, DC. It was a terrific program! And a special thank you to Dave Harrington and Tristan Coughlin for organizing the pub crawl. A great time was had by all.

In addition to the interesting panel presentations and camaraderie among colleagues, the committee made a sizable donation to the Fisher House at the Walter Reed Medical Center that will be used to purchase a grill that can be used by the military families staying there while their soldiers are being treated at Walter Reed.

Thank you to Gary Halbert for introducing us to this worthy organization and for delivering our donation to the Fisher House, to Piper Aircraft and JetBlue for donating airplane models to be used as raffle prizes, and to Jonathan Stern and the Schnader Harrison, Segal & Lewis law firm for donating their winnings from the raffle to the Fisher House.

We also recognized Ethan McInteer, a recent graduate of Washburn University School of Law and an L.L.M. Candidate in the Air and Space Law Program at the University of Mississippi School of Law, as the winner of our committee’s Second Annual Law Student Writing competition. His paper on THE AGE OF UNMANNED AVIATION: PROTECTION OF PRIVACY is available here.

We are still looking for articles to include in the next issue of our committee’s newsletter, so if you would like to submit one, please reach out to Leanne Capps, our newsletter editor, at lcapps@polsinelli.com

I hope everyone enjoys the Fall and the upcoming holidays and encourage you to make plans to attend the TIPS Section Conference next May in Los Angeles.
