Message From The Chair

Dear Colleagues,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. The ABA TIPS Aviation Committee has been busy finishing this year’s program entitled TIPS From Cockpit to Courtroom which will be held November 3-4 at the Ritz Carlton in Washington, DC. The past year has seen some interesting developments with preemption and personal jurisdiction. We will hear from the lawyers and judges that are actually making the law in these and other areas. Our keynote speaker this year will be Christopher Hart, Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board.

Thank you to those who are sponsoring this year’s program. We still have sponsorship opportunities available. Mike and I are hosting a dinner at a very exciting venue on November 2 for those who support this program through their sponsorship. Please contact me at for more details on sponsorship opportunities.

There are a few folks I want to express special thanks to for going above and beyond this past year. Orla Brady for her leadership last year and helping me transition into this year as chair. Garrett Pendleton and David Harrington for their work on the law student writing competition. Leane Capps for resurrecting the newsletter. Leane would greatly appreciate articles and case law updates which you can email her at I also want to thank Janet Hummons and Donald Quarles with ABA who work tirelessly to keep a handle on the logistics of the program, ensuring deadlines are met, and getting the CLE approved.

I look to seeing everyone for a great program and comradery in Washington D.C.

With kind regards,

Ladd Singer, Committee Chair
