PODL focuses on insurance coverage and risk management issues relating to professionals', officers', and directors' liability insurance and professional liability. Join Us at the ABA Annual Meeting In Chicago!
PODL will be co-sponsoring a post-CLE/CE reception with the PLUS Mid West Chapter on July 31, 2015 at the Chicago Park Hyatt Hotel. The program, “Trials and Tribulations: Cyber & Privacy Risks for Lawyers” will be presented by Kari Timm of Bates Carey and Michael Flanagan of Big Data Insure. The CLE will commence at 5:30 with a reception at the Park Hyatt to follow from 6:30-8:30. The program has been approved for 1 CE credit in Illinois and California and 1 CLE credit in Texas and California. CLE credit has been applied for in Illinois and CE Credit has been applied for in Texas. All CLE and CE Credit is being provided by PLUS. We’re expecting a great turnout for this fantastic program and hope you can join us!

PODL Seeks Authors for TIPS Law Journal Annual Survey
PODL is currently seeking authors for the Accountants Liability and Agents and Brokers Liability sections of the Annual Survey. The Annual Survey provides an overview of the most important d in the law (case law and or new regulations) during the period of 10/1/13 - 11/1/14 and discusses their impact from both a liability and coverage perspective. Submissions, which should be between 5-10 double spaced pages, including foot notes, will be due in late October. Sample extracts from our prior journal submissions can be found on the PODL committee website: http://apps.americanbar.org/dch/committee.cfm?com=IL220000. It's a great opportunity to contribute to a widely-read journal!

The program provided an introduction to the Lloyd's market structure, an analysis of the process of placing a risk with Lloyd's syndicates and an overview of Lloyd's claims management process,including a discussion of the Lloyd's Claims Transformation Programme. The second half of the seminar explored the complex issues that arise when disputes occur between Lloyd's syndicates and their insureds. The program also addressed the legal issues pertaining to conflicts among syndicates with respect to both primary and excess layers as well as with reinsurers. The panelists reviewed the anatomy of a coverage dispute from first tender through resolution with there insurer, as well as the advantages of using alternative dispute resolution to manage these conflicts effectively and efficiently.
