Who We Are

The Real Estate Financing Group is devoted to assisting attorneys in financing techniques involving real estate as collateral. To this end, this group presents educational programs and produces written materials to educate lawyers in all aspects of real estate finance. Separate committees within this group are dedicated to mortgage lending, including construction lending and securitizations, and legal opinions issued in connection with these financings, as well as legal issues and developments in real estate workouts, foreclosures and bankruptcies.

Enforceability Opinions and Their Qualifications

January 15, 2014
This call (at 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. CDT/2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EDT, call 866-646-6488, passcode 557 741 9753) will focus on the meaning of enforceability opinions in connection with real estate secured loan transactions and the need for qualifications to enforceability opinions. Ed Levin and Charlie Menges of the Legal Opinions in Real Estate Transactions Committee will lead a presentation for about 20 minutes. This call will follow with 15 minutes for questions and discussion.

25th Anniversary RPTE Spring Symposium, Chicago, IL

May 1, 2014 - May 2, 2014
The Real Estate Financing Group will be presenting a program at the Spring Symposium. Title: Eager Client Needs a Loan: Who, What, When, Where, How? Eager Client has come to Ideal Lender for commercial real estate financing. This program will take you through the anatomy of the loan financing process beginning with initial due diligence through closing and post-closing matters. The diverse panel will highlight perspectives from the borrower and lender sides as well as new hot topics in the area of commercial financing.
