2010 ABA Annual Meeting
August 5-10, 2010
San Francisco, CA
The ABA Annual Meeting will be held in San Francisco from August 5-10, 2010, with Section activities on August 5-8, 2010. All Section leaders are invited and encouraged to attend the Council Meeting on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Section events, with the exception of the Hot Topics Program in Environmental Law CLE program, will be located in the Westin St. Francis, 335 Powell St., San Francisco, CA 94102.
ABA Annual Meeting Registration
For this meeting you will have two meeting registrations. (1) You will register for the Section Council Meeting and (2) you will need to register for the ABA Annual Meeting. Note, in order to secure housing you must register for the ABA Annual Meeting. Please use the Meeting RSVP Form to register and indicate your attendance at the Section Council Meeting and related events. Please return by Friday, July 9, 2010. The only fee associated with the Council Meeting is the Leadership Dinner on Sunday evening.
The ABA has appointed CDS (Convention Data Services), a professional convention management company, as registrar for the 2010 Annual Meeting in San Francisco. To register for the ABA Annual Meeting, please visit: www.abanet.org/annual/2010. On this page, you will also find information about housing, maps, the President’s Reception, and the special events and tours program. You may register online or print a faxable registration form. To take advantage of the Early Bird Registration discount price of $470* (governance and All-access CLE Badge) or $195* (governance and non-CLE), registration forms must be received by CDS by Friday, May 28, 2010. Any registration forms received after May 28 will be processed at the regular registration fee of $570 or $295. (* increases by $100 after May 28, 2010.)
Council Meeting Agenda and Report Deadlines
All 09-10 Officers are asked to provide written reports for the Council agenda materials. If you would like something specific added to the Council meeting agenda, please let John Cruden and Dana Jonusaitis know by Friday, July 16, 2010.
All 09-10 committee chairs are expected to provide a final report of their committee’s progress to their Council Liaisons by Friday, July 9, 2010. Council Liaison summary reports should be turned in to the Section office by Friday, July 16, 2010. Officer reports should be turned in to the Section office by Friday, July 16, 2010.

The Presidential CLE Centre will be located in the Moscone Center West. The Centre will offer accredited CLE programs covering all areas of practice, giving attendees an opportunity to conveniently earn a year’s worth of CLE credits in one central location. For the most current list of all CLE programs, please visit the ABA Annual Web site.
All participants must be registered for the ABA Annual Meeting to attend CLE programs. Admittance to each CLE program will require one individual program ticket OR the All-Access CLE Badge.

ABA Annual Meeting Navigation
“One Million Trees” project – Finalist for the 2010 SOC Meritorious Service Award
On June 8, 2010, the Section Officers Conference (SOC) Award Committee announced the four finalists for the SOC Meritorious Service Award. The ABA SEER’s “One Million Trees” public service initiative made the final four from a field of ten nominations. The annual SOC Meritorious Service Award is given to the Section, Division or Forum that has sponsored a program, project or initiative in the past year that is of extraordinary benefit to the profession, the public and/or the ABA. The winner of the award will be announced at the business meeting of the Section Officers Conference on Friday, August 6, at 5:00 p.m. at the 2010 ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco. The meeting will be held at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Nob Hill A/B/C, Lower B2 Level, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. ABA President Carolyn B. Lamm has been asked to make the presentation.
