Ethics Committee
Message from the Chairs
Welcome to the homepage of the Ethics Committee. As co-chairs of the Committee, our goal is to make the Committee a source of information and a forum for discussion on ethical issues pertaining to environmental lawyers. Here are some of the projects we will be working on this year:
- E-mail updates- The Committee will communicate with members via our listserve. We will use the list-serve to notify members of recent developments in the field. If you have an update you would like to share with Committee members, or if you have any comments on the updates, please email our Technology Vice-Chair, Thomas M. Skove.
- Programming- The Committee will continue working on programming. The Committee sponsored an ethics panel at the SEER Fall Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland and will be presenting a panel at the 29th Annual Conference on Environmental Law which will be held in Salt Lake City in March 2010. In the interim, the Committee may hold quick teleconferences or other programs. If you have any suggestions for other programs, please contact our Programs Vice-Chair, Gordon Speights Young.
- Committee Newsletter- The Committee plans to publish one or more newsletters during the coming year. If you are interested in submitting an article or have an idea you would like to discuss, please contact our Newsletter Vice-Chair, Peggy P. Love.
- Membership- The Committee is always looking for new ways to attract new members and ensure diversity in our Committee. We welcome new members and will continue our efforts to recruit new members. If you have any ideas about how we can best serve our current members or how to recruit new members, contact our Membership Vice-Chair, Kim Diana Connolly.
Interested in joining? If you are already a member of the ABA Section on Environment, Energy & Natural Resources, you may select the Committee on Ethics as one of your five Committees without any increase in your ABA dues. If you are not a member of the ABA Section on Environment, Energy & Natural Resources, and are interested in joining, read about the benefits of membership. You can become a member of the ABA Section electronically by clicking here and select the Committee on Ethics as one of your committees.
We look forward to working with you in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
