Homeland Security Committee

2010-2011 Committee Chair:

Jeffrey H. Wood, Ingram Barge Company, Nashville, TN

Message from the Chair

My name is Jeff Wood, and I’m the Chair of the ABA SEER Homeland Security Committee for the 2010-2011 ABA Year. The Homeland Security Committee provides a forum for discussion of homeland security law and policy issues that arise in the environment, energy or natural resources context. The Committee seeks to monitor legislative, administrative and judicial developments and identifies those developments that may be of particular interest to our members.

Newsletter/Year in Review
Please contact Steven Burns, our Vice Chair for Committee Newsletters, with any ideas for articles, news or information relevant to our committee’s work. Also, please let Steven know if you are interested in writing an article for our committee’s newsletter. We plan to issue the next committee newsletter in the near future. I would also encourage you to contact Professor Dennis Binder, Vice Chair for Year-In-Review, if you have suggestions for homeland security topics that should be covered in the ABA SEER’s 2010 Year In Review publication.

Conferences and Meetings
There were several conferences and Section meetings in 2010 with more planned for 2011. Please visit the Section website, for an updated program listing. The Homeland Security Committee will be actively planning programs. If you have ideas for programs or Quick Teleconferences that would be of interest to our committee members, please contact our Vice Chair of Programs, General Thomas Beron.

Website
Please visit our committee’s website, to learn more about the Homeland Security Committee. Ask other ABA members who are active in this area of the law to visit the website as well and to join our committee. Remember any member of the Section can join up to five committees. You can also check on and register for any number of seminars, brown bag lunches and conferences of the Section. For more information about membership, please contact our Vice Chair for Membership, Kathryn Firsching.
