- It's Not Just About E-mail: What the Family Trial Lawyer Needs to Know About Electronic Evidence Prior to and During a Trial
This session will address the duties of the client and counsel regarding electronic evidence, what to look for during discovery, and related ethical considerations including preventing the spoliation of electronic evidence. The program will discuss trial admissibility issues that arise concerning electronic evidence as well as issues regarding the Federal Electronic Signatures Act.

- Child Abuse/Neglect (Dependency) Law for the Domestic Relations Attorney (Co-sponsored by the ABA Center on Children and the Law)
Two lawyers with several decades of experience in litigating juvenile court child abuse and neglect cases, writing educational materials on case handling reforms, and training attorneys and judges throughout the country, will provide an overview of the dependency case process, including how changes in federal law and policy are affecting local judicial responses to child maltreatment. They will describe innovations in good practice, both in representing children (as attorneys or guardians ad litem) and in representing accused and non-custodial parents in these proceedings. Important areas of statutory reform and court practice changes that are spreading throughout the country will also be discussed. Attendees will have the opportunity to questions two of the child protection law field's most distinguished experts on case-related issues.

Experient will be the only source for ABA Meeting Registration and Official ABA Housing. Please note: Registration, hotel reservations, and requests for event tickets cannot be accepted by phone. Please visit the ABA Annual Meeting website or send an e-mail message to email@example.com to make changes or to add additional items to an existing registration. Please include your Experient I.D. number on all correspondence.
To receive housing, you must register for the ABA Annual Meeting. A list of official ABA hotels, rates, amenities, and locations can be found at the ABA Annual Meeting website.
Reservation requests should be directed only to Experient by registering online or using the form in the ABA Family Law brochure (or the brochure on the ABA's Annual Meeting website).
Hotels will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis, and choice of accommodations will become more limited as the deadline for registration approaches. You are urged to make your reservations before the deadline, both to enjoy the early bird discount as well as try to receive your preferred hotel choice.
Please indicate your first, second and third choice of hotel. If your preferred hotel choices are unavailable, Experient will be happy to place you on a wait list for one of your first two choices. Please call Experient at 800-421-0450 or send an e-mail message to firstname.lastname@example.org your wish to be waitlisted. Wait-listed reservations will be confirmed as cancellations are received. Please include your Experient ID number in all correspondence.
A credit card with a valid expiration date (August 31, 2008 or later) is required to guarantee your hotel reservation. If an invalid card is provided, we will not be able to reserve a hotel room for you. A customary one night's deposit may be charged to your credit card days before your arrival (depending on hotel policies). Please consult your housing confirmation, which you will receive from Experient, the official ABA Housing and Registration Bureau, for your hotelís specific policy.

The deadline for advance registration and housing is Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. Central Daylight Saving Time. This is the absolute deadline that Experient can receive and process a registration form requesting housing. This is also the absolute deadline that you can register for the Annual Meeting and appear in the Advance Registration List.
After July 8, registrations will be accepted on-site at the Hilton New York. Registration forms received by Experient after July 8 will be held and processed on-site after August 5, and will not appear in the Advance Registration List.
Hotel requests received at Experient after July 8 will not be accommodated. After the housing deadline, you must wait until after July 25 to make your reservation directly with the official ABA hotels or to change reservations made through Experient.
Ticket requests received after July 8 will be held and processed on-site, to the extent that tickets remain available.
Remember to select your Family Law ticketed events when registering for the Annual Meeting. If the Family Law events are not available when you register, please check back; you can purchase tickets for Family Law events after you have initially registered for the ABA Annual Meeting.
To cancel your reservation, prior to July 8, contact Experient by phone at 800-421-0450, by fax at 800-521-6017; or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hotel cancellations after July 8 must be directed to the hotel directly beginning July 25. If you are canceling your reservation directly with the hotel, all cancellations must be made 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date. Failure to cancel prior to 72 hours or failure to check-in on the scheduled arrival date will result in a one nightís room and tax charge to your credit card.
All requests for cancellations must be submitted in writing according to the procedures outlined below. Registration fees will be refunded, minus a $50 processing fee for cancellations, substitutions or transfers.
Prior to July 8, cancellations must be sent in writing by mail to ABA/ Experient, 108 Wilmot Road, P.O. Box 825, Deerfield, Illinois 60015-0825; by fax to 800-521-6017; or by e-mail to email@example.com.
After July 8, all cancellation requests must be accompanied by an explanation for cancellation. These requests must be sent in writing by mail to the ABA Meetings and Travel Department, 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, Illinois 60610; by fax to 312-988-6338; or by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. All requests for registration cancellations must be received by August 31, 2008 to receive a refund. There is no fee for cancelled guest registration(s). President's Reception tickets are refundable up to 72 hours in advance of the event.
Unused CLE tickets are fully refundable until October 13, 2008. Unused CLE tickets, along with a request for a refund, must be sent to the ABA Meetings and Travel Department at the above address.
No cash refunds will be made on-site in New York. Credit card refunds will be processed immediately and may take up to two billing cycles to appear on your statement. Requests for cash or check refunds on-site at the Annual Meeting will be processed after the conclusion of the meeting.
Airfare discounts for travel to the Annual Meeting are available from American, United and Continental Airlines. Visit the ABA Online Travel website and click the Online Travel link.
If you have not used ABA Online Travel before, you will need to establish an account online. (Just click on Request New Profile in the appropriate box [Self-paid travel].) Orbitz for Business is available 24/7 to assist with setting up an account or to make reservations with a travel agent. The toll-free number for Orbitz for Business is 1-877-222-4185.

The special daily, weekly and weekend rates are available in New York from one week before through one week after the meeting. Purchasing CLE at the 2008 Annual Meeting
Purchasing CLE at Annual is easy! Just register for the meeting and purchase an All-Access Badge for a fee of $450**. This badge can be used for admittance to governance meetings, non-CLE programs, and ALL CLE programs at the Annual Meeting, including those in the Presidential CLE Centre and at the satellite hotels.
Members whose primary focus at the Annual Meeting is governance, and who may only be able to attend a few CLE programs, can register for the Meeting for a fee of $175**, which includes admittance to all governance and non-CLE programs, and purchase individual program tickets for $75 each.
Discounted CLE program tickets will be available to government lawyers and judges for $35. Law Student registrants will be admitted to all CLE programs at no additional charge.
Admittance to each CLE program will require one individual program ticket OR the All-Access CLE Badge.
Registration for non-ABA members is $875.
Hardship/Scholarships are available for all Section MCLE events.
Scholarships are intended to increase membership involvement in entity activities by providing support to those
who would otherwise be financially unable to participate.

The Presidential CLE Center will be located in both the Hilton New York and Sheraton New York Hotels. The Centre will offer accredited CLE programs covering all areas of practice, giving attendees an opportunity to conveniently earn a year's worth of CLE credits in one central location.
