ILEX Briefing Trip to The Hague

September 21-23, 2008

The International Legal Exchange (ILEX) Program of the ABA Section of International Law organized a Briefing Trip to The Hague in September 2008: "The World's Courthouse." The trip was led by ABA SIL Chair Aaron Schildhaus and included tours and briefings at several international legal institutions.

The delegation had the opportunity to interact with numerous speakers, including Prosecutor Serge Brammertz and President Fausto Pocar of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and U.S. Ambassador James B. Culbertson. At the Peace Palace, Judge Rosalyn Higgins of the International Court of Justice and Deputy Secretary-General Brooks W. Daly of the Permanent Court of Arbitration spoke with the delegation. The trip also included tours and briefings at the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal and the Hague Conference on Private International Law.

Rule of Law Panel Series
