12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. This session provides an opportunity to meet with senior staff to the House and Senate committees with jurisdiction over issues important to Section members. Representatives of the chairs and ranking members of key committees will discuss their international priorities for the coming year. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions about upcoming legislative activity. This session takes place on Capitol Hill where attendees will be briefed by Congressional Staff. Attendees are responsible for providing their own transportation. Program Chairs: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Law Student, LL.M., and New Lawyer Outreach Committee A “how to” for law students looking to launch their careers in international law—top practitioners speak frankly about their formative experiences and provide tips they have for students just starting to think about how to get their feet in the door, from job skills to interview tips. Program Chairs: Moderator: Speakers: 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Challenges to mandatory age-based retirement plans are resulting in new rules. As a result of longer life spans, the large baby boomer generation reaching retirement age, and declines in the stock markets world-wide, mandatory retirement is under attack. This program will explore the current legal status of mandatory retirement age-based plans under U.S. and European law, the ABA and NYS Bar Association positions on mandatory retirement age plans, as well as the differences between U.S. and European law firm approaches to age-based mandatory retirement policies. Retired lawyers on the panel will discuss what they didn't know--but wished they had known--prior to retiring. Program Chair: Moderator: Speakers: Law Student, LL.M., and New Lawyer Outreach Committee Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to be admitted to practice before the CIT and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Only Spring Meeting registrants may be sworn in at this ceremony. Fees for admission will be payable by interested registrants to the courts. Attendance is open to registrants’ guests. If you are interested in being admitted to practice before the CIT and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, please check the correct box during the online registration process. Interested registrants will receive a personalized response with more details after the initial registration for the Spring Meeting is complete. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a speed networking round to learn about each other or make business opportunities. With this program, there is no need to break the ice. It’s already done for you. Just take a seat and start talking! Program Chairs: Speaker: Women’s Interest Network (WIN) Immediately following the “Networking in Washington” program is an opportunity to meet leaders of the Constituent Division’s committees including GIN, YIN, SIN, WIN, NGO and Law Student, LL.M., and New Lawyers.
