Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs
(A service entity of the American Bar Association)

For Judges

The ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs (CoLAP) is attempting to establish a list of Judges throughout North America who would be willing to share their recovery experiences with their peers on the bench. Some may wish to do so only in areas outside of their jurisdiction, and some may wish to preserve their anonymity. Whatever the restraints volunteers wish us to abide by will be honored.

For a very detailed explanation of what it is that we are trying to accomplish and for a much broader version of our goals, I refer you to a very informative article from The Judges Journal published by The Judicial Division of the ABA, specifically the Fall issue of 2006 (Vol. 45, No. 4); Got Stress? Using CoLAP and Its New Judicial Assistance Project by Judge Robert L. Childers.

If you would like to join us and become a member of the CoLAP Peer to Peer list, or if you have questions or comments, please contact any one of us. All three of us are in long time recovery.
