Description: MUW was the first public institution chartered as a women's college in the United States.

Description: The Paralegal program at the University of Southern Mississippi was established in 1974 and approved by the American Bar Association in 1990. It has two full-time faculty members, who are both attorneys. Southern Miss. Has an active paralegal society which promotes professional events, guest speakers, and networking opportunities. Internships are encouraged. The program is housed in the Political Science Department, but has its own director, with about 80 majors. An Advisory Committee of dedicated paralegals, lawyers, and other interested people, guides the program.
