As the "public service arm" of the ABA, the Young Lawyers Division focuses considerable attention on general public service and pro bono projects. An abundance of pro bono projects are implemented at the state and local level each year, through the YLD network of more than 300 affiliated state and local bar young lawyer organizations. Most of these projects have been presented in workshop formats at YLD national conferences. "How-to" project pamphlets for the most current of these programs are listed in the YLD Resource Guide and may be ordered through the ABA Service Center.

Examples of current YLD affiliate pro bono projects include: Law Firm Pro Bono Projects; Pro Bono Opportunities Fair; Legal Services for the Mentally Ill; Homebound Elderly Legal Assistance Program; and Lend-a-Layer. The YLD Resource Guide may be downloaded from the YLD homepage, www.abanet.org/yld , or a copy may be obtained by calling 312 988-5611.
