A Message from Your 14th Circuit Governor
Law students from Nevada and Northern California are invited to attend the ABA Law Student Division 2011 Spring Meeting and Governor Election from February 19, 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Join your fellow law students in a substantive discussion of law, leadership, and marketability.
There is no registration fee to attend this meeting yet just look at all the valuable opportunities available to you during the Spring Meeting:
- Learn from practicing attorneys about how to thrive in the legal profession;
- Cultivate your leadership skills through practical approaches and tips from other student leaders and experienced attorneys;
- Learn how law school leaders can effectively set a vision and agenda for law school leaders who will follow; and
- Take home valuable tips and strategies for planning and implementing law school activities and events.

Who Should Attend This Meeting?
The Spring Meeting is designed to bring law school leaders together to exchange ideas and develop camaraderie. You should make plans today to attend this summit if you are:
- Current or aspiring law student leaders:
- Student Bar Association Presidents

- Law student interested in becoming a leader
- Law student leaders interested in:
- Discussing important issues facing law students and legal education.

Registration
The 14th Circuit Spring Meeting and Governor Election will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 19, 2011.
Advance Registration
Step 1: Advance registration closed on Friday, February 11, 2010. If you were unable to register by February 5, you may register on-site at the meeting. Please be sure to have your onsite registration form completed before you arrive and your ABA membership number readily available in order to expedite the process.
Step 2: Once you arrive at the meeting, attendees should stop at the registration table to sign-in, pick-up their badges and a final schedule of events before proceeding to the meeting room. The exact location of the meeting and registration will be announced as soon as it has been confirmed by the hotel.
On-Site Registration
Meeting registration will be available during the times listed above at Caesars Palace. Attendees should stop at the registration table to sign-in and pick up their badge and a final program.
If you were unable to complete the Advance Registration Form before the February 11 deadline, you may register on site at the registration table. To register at the meeting, please print out the onsite registration form (posted after February 12 at this location) and have it completed before you arrive in order to expedite the check-in procedure.
Making Travel Arrangements
The 14th Circuit Spring Meeting and Governor Election will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada from February 19, 2011. When planning your trip, ABA members are reminded to take advantage of their ABA membership benefits to obtain discounts on airfares, hotels and rental cars.

ABA members are eligible for discounts on room rates from Starwood Hotels. The Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority also offers options for overnight accommodations through the city. Most of the 14th Circuit Leadership will be staying at Caesars Palace where all meeting activities will be held.

Law Student Division members seeking a roommate or carpool to share expenses to attend the 14th Circuit Spring Meeting and Governor Election will be posted on this webpage as requests are received. Contacting perspective students in this regard and agreeing upon arrangements are the responsibility of the individual parties involved. The American Bar Association, the Law Student Division, and/or the 14th Circuit leadership assumes no responsibility or liability for making such arrangements or agreements.

Voting and Elections
Election of the Circuit Governor:
Certified Delegates (SBA Presidents, ABA Representatives or their proxies) who wish to participate in the election of the 14th Circuit Governor must be certified in order to vote. Please check in with the ABA Law Student Division Election Proctor as soon as you arrive at the meeting in order to be certified. Election results will be announced during the Sunday Brunch.

Who Votes for the New Governor?
The primary ABA Representative and the SBA President (hereafter referred to as Delegates) from each ABA-approved law school who are current members in good standing of the ABA Law Student Division (a member in good standing is one who has paid his/her 2010-2011 ABA Law Student Division dues in full) are eligible for certification to participate in the election. A principle delegate who is not an ABA Law Student Division member, but wishes to vote in the election must join the ABA in order to be certified to vote. Otherwise, he/she may proxy his/her vote to another law student from his/her law school, provided that law student is a fully paid member of the ABA Law Student Division. Proxies must present signed, written authorization from the principle delegate, preferably on school letterhead stationery, in order to be certified. See complete proxy instructions
Sample Proxy Letter Language
I, {principle delegate’s full name}, {title: ABA Representative or SBA President} of the {full official name of law school} and a principal delegate in the Assembly of the American Bar Association Law Student Division, in accordance with ABA Law Student Division Governing Rules, hereby designate as my proxy {name of student to whom proxy is being given}, to cast my vote(s) at the 14th Circuit Spring Meeting and Governor Election, to be held February 19, 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV.

NOTE TO DELEGATES: In order to vote in the election, SBA Presidents, ABA Representatives or their proxies must be ABA Law Student Division members in good standing. An ABA member in good standing is one who has paid his/her 2010-2011 ABA Law Student Division dues in full. If you wish to join the ABA Law Student Division or bring your member status up-to-date, please visit MyABA or contact the ABA Service Center at 800.285.2221.
ABA Rep Funds
The ABA Law Student Division is unable to provide funding to law students for travel to the Spring Meeting. However, ABA Representatives attending their Circuit’s Spring Meeting may request Rep Funds (if available) to offset some of their travel expenses. Representative Funds are limited in size and all reimbursement requests are processed on a first-come, first- served basis.
To be eligible to receive Rep Funds to attend the Spring Meeting, you must be the primary ABA Representative at your school and the application must be received by the Secretary Treasurer and Division Director three weeks prior to the date of the Spring Meeting you are attending. The amount of funding Representatives are eligible to request is based on available funds for your school.
