The next Chief Staff Executive retreat will focus on the impact of the economy on the practice of law and what our members need from us today and in the near future. Professor William Henderson of Indiana University will give an overview of the economic environment relating to legal education and legal practice. What does this mean for bar associations? What are our challenges and opportunities? How will the new administration impact our world? Join us for a discussion of how to survive the times and lay a path for the future – yours, mine, and ours. The deadline for early registration is January 15, 2009.

Each March, the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) hosts the Chief Staff Executive Retreat for professional development of bar association executive directors. Fifty bar leaders attend. The CSE Retreat is a unique opportunity. Participants experience:

Networking on a small, intimate scale,
Informal peer-to-peer coaching and feedback,
Case-studies featuring real-life issues submitted by participants, and
Leadership development presentations from leadership consultants and fellow bar executives.

The CSE Retreat precedes the annual Bar Leadership Institute, hosted by the American Bar Association Division for Bar Services at Chicago's Downtown Marriott. After the Retreat, participants join hundreds of their peers and their respective presidents-elect at the BLI, which features three days of training on bar leadership and governance.
