"Justice Kid" PSAs launched in Kosovo
Justice Kid, the first ever Kosovo-made cartoon hero, premiered on Kosovo TV screens for the first time on March 30, 2007, following an official launch by the Rule of Law Initiative, the Kosovo Chamber of Advocates and the Kosovo Judges Association. Three "Justice Kid" cartoons as well as three public service announcements have aired as part of a joint campaign to increase public understanding of the law among the country's younger generations. > Read More

Serbia Court Internship Program Enters New Phase
Over 140 third and fourth-year students from Serbian law schools participated in the 10th round of the Court Internship Program, which drew to a close on March 30, 2007. Workshop on Human Rights Protection in Criminal Trials in Ukraine
The problem of human rights violations in criminal trials in Ukraine has been repeatedly raised by many international organizations. To address this issue, on March 31-April 2, 2007, the Rule of Law Initiative convened a training session for 30 defense lawyers from throughout Ukraine, who studied Articles 2, 3 and 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights, international standards on pre-trial detention (including recommendations on combating “administrative arrest”), and rules of procedure before the European Court of Human Rights. > Read More
Magistrates' Association of Serbia Presents Family Violence Survey
The Magistrates’ Association of Serbia (MAS), in partnership with the Rule of Law Initiative, presented its Family Violence Survey at a March 30, 2007 roll-out ceremony. The survey showed an increase in reported cases of family violence from the previous year. Magistrates viewed this trend as a positive change in the mindset of victims, who now feel protected by the system and more willing to report violence. > Read More
