Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee
Letter From the Chair
The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee of TIPS is the only organized ABA group devoted to the study and practice of admiralty and maritime law. In this unique role, our committee has ambitious plans for the coming year, including continuing or beginning work on the following projects:
- Rotterdam Rules – leading the effort to convince the ABA House of Delegates to recommend the ratification of the Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea, to be known as the Rotterdam Rules.
- CLE Seminars – organizing and presenting telephonic and in-person CLE seminars dealing with introductory admiralty issues and piracy related insurance coverage and claims.
- Recreational Boating Book – publishing a book dealing with legal issues associated with recreational and pleasure boating.
- Articles and Newsletters – writing several articles for publication in committee newsletters and a survey of recent developments in admiralty and maritime law, to be published in the TIPS Law Journal.
- Law Student Writing Competition – sponsoring the second annual Admiralty and Maritime Law
Committee, Law Student Writing Competition.
