ADMIRALTY AND MARITIME LAW COMMITTEE
About Us

The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section has 597 members. The Committee's membership is comprised of plaintiff attorneys, defense attorneys, insurance counsel, state and federal judges, in-house corporate counsel, and academics. The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee is active in sponsoring or co-sponsoring continuing legal education programs through the American Bar Association annual meetings as well as the New Orleans Maritime seminar in conjunction with Tulane Law School in association with the American Waterways Operators, Offshore Marine Service Association, and Passenger Vessel Association.

The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee publishes quarterly newsletters which are the principal channel for communication with the committee members, providing information on current activities and substantive legal and legislative developments of interest to maritime practitioners. The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee also submits articles to the Tort and Insurance Law Journal.

Additionally, the Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee cooperates with special standing committees of the American Bar Association. The Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee has members on the Continuing Legal Education Board, Women and Minority Involvement Board, the Tort and Insurance Law Journal Editorial Board, the General Committees Board, and the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section Council.

In addition to providing resources for admiralty and maritime tort and insurance practice, the Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee encourages its members to participate in the advancement of civil justice, professionalism, and diversity of membership to reflect the interests of plaintiffs, defendants, and insurers.
