Letter From the Chairs

Welcome new members and returning members of the Automobile Committee to a new TIPS year!

As co-chairs for the 2010-2011 TIPS year, Tiffany and I look forward to working with fellow colleagues who share a common interest in automotive litigation. The Automobile Law Committee seeks to address a wide range of issues arising out of automobile tort liability and insurance coverage disputes. The committee’s activities cover such areas as: general liability, automotive product liability litigation, insurance issues related to automobile insurance coverage and legislative proposals concerning automobile tort reform and insurance. Historically, our Committee membership is comprised of plaintiff, defense and staff counsel for various companies involved in automotive litigation.

This committee will work diligently this year to be the primary source for education and knowledge in civil trial and appellate advocacy, conflict resolution, and tort and insurance law, specifically addressing issues in automotive litigation. Our committee will be working again to co-sponsor the Emerging Issues in Motor Vehicle Litigation, which is scheduled for March 31, 2011 and April 1, 2011 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix Arizona. For those who have never attended this CLE, this is a great CLE at a great location specifically targeted at those who practice in the automotive industry.

Additionally, the Automobile Law Committee is working to producing newsletters, as well as hosting various teleseminars throughout the year. If you would like to contribute an article and/or have ideas for a teleseminar, please do not hesitate to contact us, as we still have time to plan events for the spring of 2011.

Please “Save the Date” and plan to participate in the following:

  • Upcoming Fall/Winter Automobile Law Newsletter
  • TIPS Fall Meeting, October 12-17, 2010, Dallas, Texas
  • ABA Mid Year Meeting, February 9-15, 2011, Atlanta, Georgia
  • Emerging Issues in Motor Vehicle Litigation CLE, March 31-April 1, 2011, Pheonix, Arizona
  • TIPS Spring Meeting, May 18-22, 2011, Amelia Island, Florida
  • ABA Annual Meeting, August 5-10, 2011, Toronto, Canada

If you are interested in serving in any capacity on the Automobile Committee, whether as a membership, publications, CLE, diversity, legislative, policy or technology vice-chair, please do not hesitate to contact us as we are constantly looking to bring fresh faces and new ideas to this committee.

Thank you for your support and participation in the Automobile Law Committee. Again, we welcome your thoughts and ideas regarding how to make this an excellent year as well as provide you the best opportunities for networking and professional development. If you have any questions or would like to serve on the Automobile Law committee, please feel free to contact me at 865-546-4646, or bjones@lewisking.com or Tiffany Alexander at 610-964-6385, talexander@campbell-trial-lawyers.com
