How to Apply

To be considered for a leadership position in TIPS, you must be a member of both the ABA Law Student Division and the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section.

Liaison to TIPS Council

Students already involved in TIPS are encouraged to apply. Interested students must apply directly through the Law Student Division. Click here for more information on being selected by the Law Student Division for this position. The term of office is for one (1) year beginning after the ABA Annual Meeting. The 2011 application deadline will be set by the Law Student Division (usually around mid-March), but interested students should apply as soon as possible. Interviews are conducted by Circuit Governors each Spring. The TIPS Council Liaison is fully funded to attend all four (4) TIPS meetings. TIPS will reimburse or pay for airfare, hotel, meals and other related expenses, according to Section policy.

Liaison to a TIPS Standing Committee

Students already involved in TIPS are encouraged to apply. The term of office is for one (1) year beginning after the ABA Annual Meeting. The 2010 application deadline is January 31, 2010, but interested students may apply beginning September 1, 2010. TIPS Standing Committee Liaisons are fully funded to attend all TIPS meetings where their committees plan to meet. TIPS will reimburse or pay for airfare, hotel, meals and other related expenses, according to Section policy.

Law Student Vice-Chair to one of TIPS General Committees

All students are encouraged to apply. The term of office is for one (1) year beginning after the ABA Annual Meeting. The 2011 application deadline is January 31, 2011, but interested students may apply beginning September 1, 2010. TIPS Law Student Vice-Chairs are not funded to attend TIPS meetings, but are certainly welcome to attend all TIPS meetings and social functions. Many students who are named as Law Student Vice-Chairs are able to pay for themselves to attend one or more TIPS meetings or are able to obtain financial assistance or funding through their law school deans or student bar associations.
