The Media, Privacy, and Defamation Law Committee concentrates on the law of and insurance coverage for media law issues, privacy law developments, and defamation law concerns. Our topics are wide-ranging within these spheres, including insurance coverage for controversial news reporting, invasion of publicity rights, unbiased press coverage, reducing liability exposure, freedom-of-information litigation, identity theft, maintaining a positive relationship with an insurance carrier, public access to court hearings, and a plethora of other subjects.


An important part of maintaining any great committee and/or organization is its membership. The best way a committee can increase and improve its membership is through its members. Attached please find the ABA/TIPS Media, Privacy and Defamation Law Committee flyer that contains important information on upcoming events and information on how you can get more involved in the Committee. Please take a moment to review this flyer to find out what the Media, Privacy and Defamation Law Committee offers. Then email or send a printed out version of this flyer to others you think might also be interested in becoming part of the Committee. For enrollment in a committee of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. NOTE: If you are already a Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section member, you may join up to three (3) committees at no additional cost. However, if you are not a Section member, you must join the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section first.
