Letter From the Chair
Welcome to the Toxic Tort Environmental Law("TTEL") Committee to the Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. We pride ourselves in being the most visionary and balanced professional association in the legal profession! We believe the proof is in the results.
We are in full swing of planning for the 20th Annual Spring TTEL National Conference at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona This years' conference will be held on March 31st-April 2nd, 2011. For nineteen years, we have put on a national program addressing cutting edge topics in both toxic torts and environmental law and this year's program will be no exception. This year's program will include a timely panels on the Gulf Oil Spill Litigation, Changing Face of the Cancer Debate, Nanotechnology Update on Cosmetics, Hot Topics in Environmental Law and Childhood Environmental Exposures. In addition we have added a well received practice panel on Conducting Voir Dire in Mass Tort Case. Like all of the TIPS' committees, we bring together defense, insurance, plaintiff, and in-house counsel together with scientific experts in their fields for the broadest and most balanced coverage of any national bar association or other lawyer group.
The Spring TTEL meeting is not all we have in the works! Our vice chairs are planning a show case panel entitled United States and Canada Cross Border and Environmental Issues: Past, Present and Future for next Augusts' annual meeting in Toronto, Canada. In May, 2011 we are co-sponsoring a Spring CLE panel on Chinese Wallboard. This program will take place in May in Amelia Island, Florida.
I hope you were able to join us for the fall leadership 2010 meeting in Dallas. In case you missed it, I hope to see you at the Midyear meeting in Atlanta in February 2011. Our leadership meeting will take place on February 13, 2011 at 3 pm . Registration is open now and you can find the brochure on this page as well as the TIPS homepage. I look forward to seeing you there.
To be honest, I have never been a part of a professional organization that has given me as many opportunities to network with other professionals and have such a great time! If you have any questions regarding participation in the TTEL Committee, please contact our TIPS membership coordinator Linda Wiley at wileyl@staff.abanet.org or by phone at 312-988-6229.

It has been five years since the first edition of Toxic Mold Litigation was published and there have
been several interesting developments in the evolution of mold cases.
This book is a practical reference for lawyers and non-lawyers that have felt the impact of mold upon commercial and residential real estate, whether from the vantage point of insurance, construction or ownership. It is written for lawyers and others who want to gain a common sense understanding of the current legal issues affecting today's brand of mold litigation.
